It's Picnic Time!
Picnics are as much a part of summer as ball games, swimming pools, and summer camp. Today The Park at Winter’s Run Blog post we are sharing some picnic ideas as well as local parks to check out for picnic-friendly terrain. Picnics can be very simple, or they can feature multiple courses. The main thing about having a picnic is the experience of dining al fresco. There is something about eating outdoors that is appealing. We have rounded up some picnic meal ideas ranging from easy-peasy to a full-on meal including dessert. Happy picnic planning!
A loaf of French bread, cheese, and grapes can make a meal. However, for something a little more substantial, add some cold cuts from your local deli. Don’t forget a bottle of your favorite wine to complete the experience.
Spicy with a variety of textures, southwestern fare makes for a great picnic, too. Pull together tortilla chips (pack them in a rigid container), salsa, and this fresh summer salad featuring tomato, avocado, and cucumber for a refreshing outdoor meal.
Old Fashioned Fun
If you want to go all out and do an old-fashioned picnic complete with fried chicken, potato salad, rolls, and chocolate cake for dessert, the Cutestuff Cooks blog has recipes for all of it. (If you don’t have time to do it all from scratch, make the potato salad and cake the night before and pick up the fried chicken and rolls from the grocery store deli.) Remember to throw in a tablecloth for nice (hygienic) touch when eating outdoors.
If you’re not sure where to picnic, Yelp has a some suggestions for where to head out to with their selection of The Best 10 Parks near Bel Air, MD. If making a picnic isn’t feasible, do the next best thing and eat your fast food meal outdoors or dine at a Bel Air restaurant that provides outdoor seating.
